Q & A

Q: What made you want to write Fleetwood Dreams?

A: I wanted to be brutally honest about how grief and loss affected me, so that others feel they have a safe place to do the same. We live in a culture that doesn't always give space to grief. That's lonely for those who are grieving. I wanted to help normalize loss and hardship to help others less alone and give them hope.

Q: How much of your book is true?

A: All of it to the best of my knowledge and research. Some names and addresses were changed for privacy.

Q: What was the hardest part about writing your book?

A: Going back to the most difficult times in my life. In a way, it felt like I was reliving some of those moments all over again. Only this time, I was looking at them through an adult lens (that was pretty wild!). I promised myself to keep pushing through though, in hopes my book could help at least one person!

Q: What do you hope readers get out of your book?

A: My wish is that when they are finished reading it, they are left with a little hope! I want them to know that they too can share their story (whatever it is), and that they are not alone in their journey. That my readers know their story is important too, and that if they are going through grief and hardships or struggling...whatever they are feeling—it is okay! Grief is okay! It's normal and it's okay to talk about!

Q: Do you have any more books in the works?

A: Yes, my next book is currently being written. It is a children's book about Mindfulness. Stay tuned!
