Mindful Mabel... the Series!
Updated: Sep 30
As Mindful Mabel Learns Kindness is approaching its release date- AHHHHHHHH (October 13th!), I can't help but share the plans for Mabel and her future! As some already know, I am working to turn the book into a series! I'm pretty stoked about it, as it's a subject that is near and dear to my heart! Sometimes when I write, I think about what I would have wanted to hear as a kid (maybe what many of us did). Some advice and some guidance when it comes to BIG feelings. So, I write like I'm talking to the little 80s version of myself! The one with the big, feathered bangs and the mismatched clothes. Then I smile! Little me could have used some of these books. While I didn't get to read them in my youth- I'm excited to share them with my daughter and the next generation.
Mindful Mabel Learns Kindness is just the beginning, as the first book simply introduces the character, her family, her dog (Daisy), and her teacher (Mrs. Lennon)! The book touches on the concept of mindfulness (how to spell it, what it is, and what it means). It also introduces some deep breathing techniques, and the idea that all feelings are okay-- it's what you do with them that matters! Also, that by being more mindful, you can make kinder choices for yourself and others.
As the series continues, however, I am beyond excited to dive even deeper into social and emotional awareness, and how Mabel gets through challenges in her everyday life. In Mindful Mabel Finds her Brave for example, Mabel wants to try out for a speaking role in her school play; however, she is leery as the nerves begin to take over! She is going to have to find a way to work through them and be brave if she wants to make it to the big stage!
Each book will touch on an important topic and demonstrate how Mabel uses mindfulness to overcome any roadblocks that come her way! Some other possible titles in the series: Mindful Mabel Discovers Gratitude, Mindful Mabel Becomes Her Own Friend, Mindful Mabel Misses Someone Special, and even a Mindful Mabel Journal (Thanks Mel for the idea!)
More exciting updates...I am also meeting soon with a children's psychologist to talk about the challenges she sees and hears about most and some further ideas to help kids work through big feelings and everyday obstacles. Another exciting update- someone who places orders for West Coast school districts is reviewing my book.. No matter how that turns out, I'm so excited and honored for MM to even be considered!
I also wanted to give a special thanks to everyone who has supported me, my launch, and my ideas! It means more than you know!
